The Professional and Family Life Center helps you determine your goals and develop a plan.
The Professional and Family Life Center is a ministry at The Resurrection Center Wilmington, Delaware.

TO ENCOURAGE, EMPOWER AND UNITE THE INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY THROUGH HOLISTIC RELATIONAL HEALING.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God. For I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 43:5

The Professional and Family Life Center is a biblically based organization dedicated to enhancing the spiritual, psychological, emotional, and physical well-being of The Resurrection Center members and the surrounding community. Our goal is to offer hope and healing through specialized counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups that will enhance their spiritual, psychological, physical, and relational growth.

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:23

The Professional and Family Life Center will provide assistance through career and educational counseling, life skills development, individual/couple/family therapy, and pre-marriage counseling. Counselors of the Professional and Family Life Center will utilize biblical principles and various therapeutic orientations to empower consumers to solve various spiritual, emotional, psychological, social, and behavioral issues.

Without counsel, plans go awry, but in a multitude of counselors they are established. Proverbs 15:22

The Professional and Family Life Center at The Resurrection Center operates from a holistic perspective that is biblically based.

  • We believe that human beings are created in God’s image and are a spirit, soul, and body person.
  • We believe that the identity and formation of our personality is based on God-given needs to belong (Genesis 2:23-24), to be loved and accepted (Genesis 2:25), and to matter or be effective (Genesis 2:15,18).
  • We aim to restore hope and healing to the individual, family, and community through the synchronization of spirit, soul, and body.
  • We exist to encourage and empower those who are experiencing various spiritual, psychological, emotional, and relational difficulties/crisis through a holistic approach that integrates biblical principles and clinical theories.

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2

Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14 NKJ

Professional counseling is the application of mental health, psychological, or human development principles through cognitive, affective, behavioral, or systemic intervention strategies that address wellness, professional growth, or career development, as well as pathology. When experiencing certain types of difficulties, individuals and families may benefit from the guidance of an experienced and trained professional who can offer expert assistance needed in stressful times.

Lay Christian counseling is the provision of mental health services that is biblically-based by members of the laity. These counselors are not members of a professionally trained and educated group.

  • Biblical Counseling: the application of biblical truth through a personal and relevant treatment plan that strengthens the consumer’s relationship with Jesus Christ, resulting in spiritual, social, and relational maturity. The goal is to provide a spiritual perspective to hurting individuals and families, while helping them to apply the Word of God to issues.
  • Pre-Marriage Counseling Classes: the application of spiritual and psychological resources to improve communication among prospective husbands and wives before marriage. The 10-week sessions are designed to assist couples in developing strategies for a long-lasting marital union.
  • Faith Decision Counselors: lay counselors who receive training on how to share the plan of salvation, clearly articulate church beliefs, and welcome new members with a warm and encouraging spirit

Support groups are a gathering of people who share a common concern or interest that provide emotional comfort and moral support in a safe environment. The Professional and Family Life Center support groups focus on a specific situation or condition, such as cancer, diabetes, and addiction.

Life skills development workshops are support and training sessions that are short-term, lasting between 6 – 8 weeks. They address issues such as building healthy relationships, conflict resolution, parenting, divorce recovery, and time/stress/anger management. Professional counselors or lay counselors facilitate these sessions.

The Professional and Family Life Center would like to provide comprehensive, challenging experiences for all students who come from universities to complete undergraduate or graduate internships.
